SURF Parking and Check-In Process
As you near the lab, you will be driving through a residential neighborhood on Mill Street and Summit Street. Please watch for children playing by the road. The speed limit is 20 mph.
Please stop at the Yates Guard House for parking directions. You'll be directed to walk to the Education & Outreach Bldg (the meeting location) and sign-in as you enter the large conference room.
SURF Underground Site Visit
An underground site visit will be offered, but attendance is not required. This tour includes walking over 1 mile and riding in an elevator that can be problematic for people with claustrophobia. If you plan to participate in the underground site visit, temperatures will be in the low- to mid-70s on the 4,850-foot level. The Sanford Lab will provide personal protective equipment (coveralls, hardhats, cap lamps, safety glasses, etc.). For safety purposes, we require you to wear clothing that is appropriate at a construction site: full-length pants or jeans and safety-toed boots. You may bring your own or wear boots provided by the lab.
