Perseverance, grit, and problem solving are all essential for success. The importance of developing these skills is illustrated in this assembly presentation through two parallel stories: that of a little girl attempting to build a “Magnificent Thing” and the story of the search for Dark Matter. In this presentation, students are asked to consider the importance of perseverance, identify what to do when things get hard, and discuss how to learn from mistakes. Searching for dark matter is hard work and this presentation helps students understand why doing hard things is important (and awesome!)
