Deep Talks—Live from the BHSU Underground Campus (BHUC) at SURF
Join us for the November 2025 edition of Deep Talks, streaming live from the 4850 Level Black Hills State University Underground Campus at SURF.
The November 2025 edition of Deep Talks will include a chance to hear from researchers working inside the 4850 Level Black Hills State Underground Campus (BHUC), where they work to count the ultra-low levels of radiation emitted from various parts needed to build ultra-sensitive physics experiments at SURF and around the world.
The event will include physicists, located both above and below ground, presenting their work and answering audience questions.
How to attend:
Deep Talks will be held at the Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center (160 W. Main Street) in Lead, South Dakota. The event begins at 5 p.m. MT with a social hour, featuring a beer tasting from Crow Peak Brewing Company (21+ only) and light refreshments. Speaker presentations will begin at 6 p.m. MT.
