Nicol Reiner
Director of Education and Outreach
With over 30 years in education, she has taught secondary math and German, served as an instructional coach, and worked in state-level leadership at the South Dakota Department of Education. Nicol has also taught graduate math education at the University of Sioux Falls.
At SURF since 2020, she leads efforts to spark curiosity in STEM, support educators, and connect researchers with the broader community. Nicol is passionate about creating moments of curiosity and connecting STEM to learners of all ages, as well as promoting a STEM-literate citizenry and workforce.
Though she loves to travel, South Dakota has always been Nicol’s home. She earned her bachelor’s degree from South Dakota State University, studying education, German, and mathematics and attained her master’s degree from the University of Sioux Falls in Educational Leadership.
