- Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center, 160 W. Main St Lead, SD 57754

Deep Talks with Mary Bordeaux

Join us for a talk that weaves Lakota epistemologies, art, and women’s voices into pathways of research and responsibility.

Mary Bordeaux, Ed.D. (Sicangu/Oglala Lakota) will share how her journey to an Educational Doctorate was shaped by Lakota epistemologies, art, and women’s voices, and how these foundations continue to guide her research and responsibility to community.

Bordeaux holds degrees from the Institute of American Indian Arts, the University of the Arts, and Saint Mary’s University, where she completed her doctorate in education. She has held curatorial leadership roles at The Heritage Center at Red Cloud Indian School and the Indian Museum of North America at Crazy Horse Memorial, co-curated a Native art exhibition at the Venice Biennale, and serves on arts and cultural boards across South Dakota. She is also co-owner and creative director of Racing Magpie, a collaborative space with a Native art gallery and artist studios in downtown Rapid City.
