Casey Peterson

Casey Peterson, CPA, AEP, is the founder and a shareholder of Casey Peterson, Ltd.—a firm of certified public accountants and financial advisors in Rapid City—which he founded in 1977. His company employs about 100 people in many financial areas—including accounting, income and estate taxation, business valuation and audit and attestation. He serves as a member of the First Interstate Advisory Board as well as the Sanford Health Black Hills Advisory Board. He is a member of the Board of the South Dakota Community Foundation. He was formerly the Chairman of the Board and Chairman of the Audit Committee of First Western Bank in Rapid City, S.D. He has also served in the past on the Board of Directors of the West River Estate Planning Council and the Minnilusa Historical Association. 

Peterson is a past member of the Board of the South Dakota Governor’s Office of Economic Development. He was involved in the start-up of Dakota Capital Solutions, a firm that helped municipalities, private businesses and government agencies address their capital needs.

Peterson served on the Rapid City Planning and Zoning Committee and as treasurer and vice chairman of the executive committee of the Rapid City Regional Hospital Board of Trustees.

Peterson earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from the University of South Dakota. He passed the CPA exam in May 1975, is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, holds their designation of a PFS (Personal Financial Planning Specialist), holds an National Association of Securities Dealers Series 65 securities designation and is an Accredited Estate Planner. He is married and has four sons.
