Michelle Kane

Michelle Kane is the Donor Relations Manager with the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) Foundation. Her diverse marketing and non-profit career spans industries from Fortune 500 telecommunications to Silicon Valley advertising, a medical practice, semiconductor manufacturing, and law. She also spent seven years running her own PR firm.

Michelle earned her Bachelor of Arts in Advertising from San Jose State University. She is active in her community, serving on the Grow South Dakota Board and volunteering with Junior Achievement.

Outside of work, Michelle and her husband, Mike, have been married for 34 years. Mike teaches high school history in Belle Fourche, SD, and together, they are proud parents of Jack, a young adult with autism. Jack continues to teach them patience, resilience, and the joy found in life’s simplest moments.

In her role at the SURF Foundation, Michelle is dedicated to helping others get involved at SURF, empowering them to create their own legacies in STEM education, public outreach, the arts, and the future of underground science in South Dakota.
