The LUX dark-matter detector will soon be installed in the Davis Cavern on the 4850 Level, where Ray Davis built his now-famous neutrino detector. LUX also will use Davis?s nearby control room, pictured in the photos above. This smaller room will be used for storage of the liquid nitrogen needed to cool xenon for the LUX detector. The room also will house ?uninterrupted power supply? (UPS) units that will ensure a safe power supply to LUX.
