Students will explore the properties of some of the universe’s most abundant, but least understood particles–neutrinos– as they learn about the upcoming Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE) at Sanford Underground Research Facility, which will detect neutrinos as they oscillate their way through the earth from Illinois (and its accelerator complex at Fermilab) to South Dakota.
