Celebrate nurses week

May 6-12 is National Nurses Week. This week is a time for everyone to recognize the vast contributions and positive impact of America’s 4 million registered nurses.

At Sanford Lab, we recognize Occupational Nurse Laura Baatz for all she does to promote a safe and healthy workplace.

"SURF continues to upgrade our ESH Management System and one of our big efforts was to develop a full-time position for an Occupational Health Nurse," said Larry Jaudon, Environment, Safety and Health director. "Laura has been and been a great addition to our team and is instrumental in leading a number of initiatives to improve our medical capabilities and developing several health and wellness-related activities," said Larry Jaudon, ESH director.

Working in concert with the ESH team, Beatz has developed and rolled out a number of health and wellness initiatives to increase the overall awareness of health-related issues. Some of those initiatives include the "Walk the Beamline" challenge and the Work out Challenge. She also was instrumental in developing this month's "20 Days of Gratitude" challenge.

Baatz facilitates pre-employment medical check ups; offers health clinics; and teaches advanced first aid, CPR and AED training. She also participates in many nd a number of site wide group activities.

"Laura takes technical medical information and presents it in a manner that is easily understood by personnel at all levels of the organization," Jaudon continued. "She is friendly and is a pleasure to work with."
