Check in to the Health and Wellness Fair

The Wellness Fair is a great, no-cost way to get a baseline result and idea of what your health numbers are.

It’s time to check-in.

The Sanford Underground Research Facility’s Environment, Safety, and Health Department will be hosting a Health & Wellness Fair this March. This marks the second time Sanford Lab has hosted this event, which is open to all South Dakota Science and Technology Authority employees and collaboration researchers.

“The Wellness Fair is a great, no-cost way to get a baseline result and idea of what your health numbers are,” said Laura Baatz, occupational nurse at Sanford Lab. “It takes just a few minutes—and you’ll get to meet some of the new ERT medical staff as they will be assisting with the fair.”

The Wellness Fair will be held Tuesday, March 12, and Tuesday, March 19, to accommodate all shift workers. Employees can get a total cholesterol panel (which includes triglycerides, HDL and LDL) and have their blood glucose, blood pressure and pulse taken. The team can also check height, weight, BMI and waist circumference.

“It’s really up to the person what they want to have done,” Baatz said.

As March is colorectal awareness month, the ESH team will offereducational material on Colorectal screenings.
