Davis Campus labs taking shape
The circular wooden form in the top left photo was built to form a concrete ring to hold the water tank that will protect the LUX dark-matter detector in the Davis Cavern at the 4850 Level. The ring was poured Friday, and by early this week all of the special low-radiation concrete will have been poured for floors in the Davis Cavern.
Concrete also has been poured for a mechanical room in the southwest corner of the Transition Cavern, and Engineering Director Rick Labahn reports that masons have laid 20 to 25 percent of the concrete block walls in the Davis Campus (top right photo). This week Ainsworth-Benning Construction will continue to pour concrete floors in the Transition Cavern, in preparation for moving the concrete batch plant (above, at right) out of the Transition Cavern for the final pour in the cavern itself.
The Davis Campus outfitting project remains on schedule.
