June is National Safety Month

A message from Sanford Lab’s director of Environment, Safety and Health during National Safety Month

This June, workers everywhere face unprecedented challenges. In the midst of a global pandemic, workplace safety professionals work to ensure their employees have safe working conditions, whether onsite or at their homes.

“June is National Safety Month and provides another opportunity for the Sanford Lab family to reflect on our ability to provide a safe and healthy work environment for our staff and all stakeholders," said Larry Jaudon, Sanford Underground Research Facility's (Sanford Lab) director of Environment, Safety and Health.

Into the foreseeable future, leadership will keep COVID-19 at the forefront of their conversations. While safety during a pandemic remains in focus, Jaudon reminds staff to pay attention as well to other, more typical types of risks that we encounter each day.

"Our thanks to the entire staff for supporting the necessary efforts in this area, we’re doing great," Jaudon said. "Please maintain a high level of vigilance in the identification of hazards as we strive to protect ourselves and our team members."

Jaudon also asks employees to pay attention to the posters across the facility that promote social distancing.
