Pub Talk underway at Dakota Shivers in 2025

Public invited to weekly summer pub talks and trivia in Lead

The pub talks and trivia at Dakota Shivers Brewing in Lead, include fun and approachable physics and science topics related to work at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF).

The Institute for Underground Science at SURF is bringing back a popular summer pub talks and trivia series in Lead featuring physicists from around the world who are visiting SURF for the summer CETUP* workshop.

The Center for Theoretical Underground Physics and Related Areas (CETUP*) is celebrating its 10th year.  The workshop, hosted by The Institute, includes about 70 physicists and scientists in various fields who come together in Lead from around the world.

The weekly series of talks and science trivia includes casual and fun science topics that are accessible to everyone. Last year's presentation topics included crowd favorites like Physics Experiments You Can Do When You’re Bored at a Baseball Game.

Join researchers from The Institute at SURF's CETUP* workshop for a casual evening of science, conversation, and trivia at Dakota Shivers Brewing in Lead.

The Pub Talks and Trivia Series runs from 5:30–7:30 p.m. at Dakota Shivers and will take place on four Thursdays in June and July: June 25, July 2, July 9, and July 16.

The events are free and open to the public. Food available for purchase.
