Deb Wolf
Director of Outreach and Culture
Deb Wolf is the Director of Outreach and Culture at the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) in Lead, South Dakota. In this role, she leads the Education, Communications, Community Relations teams, The Institute for Underground Science at SURF, and the staff at the Sanford Lab Homestake Visitor Center. Together, they work to translate world-leading underground science research into engaging learning opportunities for students, teachers, and the general public.

With over 35 years of experience in education, Deb has taught high school science in California, Nevada, and South Dakota, covering subjects such as biology and AP chemistry. She has also served as a science instructional coach, administrator, and as the state's education innovationist for the South Dakota Department of Education before joining the SURF team.
Deb holds a BA in biology, chemistry, and secondary education from Augustana University, and an MS in chemistry education from South Dakota State University. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking in the Black Hills, watching wildlife, and reading on the deck at home with her husband, Brad, and their two cats, Howard and Stuart.
