As the director of the Sanford Underground Research Facility (SURF) Foundation, Tracy Kerwin leads the philanthropic strategy and fundraising efforts in support of SURF’s mission to inspire learning and advance world-class science.

With a strong background in philanthropy, donor engagement, and nonprofit leadership, Kerwin has built a career around connecting supporters to meaningful, mission-driven work. She began her career with United Way in Iowa before serving in Florida during a major hurricane response effort, an experience that shaped her early understanding of service, impact, and community engagement.

After success in financial industry marketing, Kerwin transitioned into frontline fundraising with the American Cancer Society, where she deepened her expertise in philanthropy and volunteer engagement. She has since held advancement and fundraising roles with the Cleveland Clinic, Martin Health Foundation, and The Wertheim UF Scripps Institute at the University of Florida.

At the SURF Foundation, Kerwin is focused on building strong donor relationships, expanding philanthropic support, and elevating awareness of SURF’s groundbreaking scientific research and STEM education initiatives on both a national and international scale.
