The EGS Collab Experiment #2 took place from approximately February–September
2022 at the Sanford Underground Research Facility in Lead, SD. The project was the
continuation of a years-long experiment aiming to validate models of enhanced geothermal
systems through a series of high-pressure injections into rock between 1200 and 1500
meters below the surface. These injection experiments were extensively monitored by
a number of systems including seismic waveform recording, pressure and temperature
probes, active source seismic tomography, electrical resistivity tomography, and a full
suite of DFOS interrogators.
