SURF Strategic Advisory Committee
Provides the South Dakota Science and Technology Authority executive leadership-level strategic guidance.
Purpose
The SURF Strategic Advisory Committee (SSAC) provides the South Dakota Science and Technology Authority (SDSTA) Board of Directors Chairperson and Executive Director with executive leadership-level strategic guidance on SURF operations performance and plans.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Provides recommendations for long-term strategies to advance performance and growth.
- Has broad latitude to comment on any aspect of SURF operations and plans.
Committee Membership
SSAC Members
Members of the committee are highly experienced members with expert knowledge in DOE Office of Science projects and operations, world-leading science laboratories, DOE ESH programs, risk management and South Dakota government operations.
The SSAC has between six and eight members, including the chairperson. Terms of service are nominally two years in length and can be extended for multiple terms at the discretion of the SDSTA Executive Director. Members of the committee recommend candidates to the SDSTA Board Chair and Executive Director to fill open seats.
The SDSTA Board Chairperson and Executive Director appoint the SSAC Chairperson for a one-year term. The Chairperson’s term can be extended for multiple terms at the discretion of the Board Chairperson and the Executive Director.
